HONS - Honors Program

 
HONS 3000. Honors On-Campus Enrichment (0-0-(0) Prerequisite: Sophomore or above standing and Member of CSU Honors Program. Critical analysis of four specified honors events, one per semester for four semesters. Non-degree credit. (S/U grading.)

HONS 3001. Honors Study Trip (3-0-3) Prerequisite: Sophomore or above standing and Member of CSU Honor Program. Intercession course in which CSU honor students will travel away from campus for 5-7 days to study a subject first hand. Course includes class discussion prior to and after the excursion. Topics might include Civil War Battlefields and Burial Grounds, Antebellum Southern Architecture, Music of the South (Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans), Historic Air and Naval Sites of the Southeast, Caverns of Appalachia, a week on Broadway, etc. Topics will change annually. Sponsored by the CSU Honors Program.

HONS 4000. Honors Off-Campus Enrichment (0-0-0) Prerequisite: Junior or above standing and Member of CSU Honors Program. Each student in the CSU Honors Program will engage in at lest one off-campus enrichment activity such as a service program, a service-learning program, study abroad, or other significant experience. (S/U grading.)

HONS 4001. Honors Thesis (3-0-3) Prerequisite: Senior standing and Member of CSU Honors Program. The thesis and oral defense are capstones of CSU Honors Program. Topics must be approved within student's major department prior to enrollment. An appropriately chosen college committee will hear the oral defense. Students should enroll the first semester of the senior year.

HONS 4002. Alternative to Honors Thesis (3-0-3) Prerequisite: Senior standing and Member of CSU Honors Program. An alternative to HONS 4001. An equivalent activity allowable under special circumstances. Must be approved by the CSU Honors Program Committee prior to enrollment.
