Math is the language of logic. Pursuing a bachelor of science in mathematics at Columbus State University enhances your ability to solve concrete problems with creative thinking. Mathematical experts are in demand across all kinds of industries including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), banking, teaching, and research.

When you pursue a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at Columbus State, you’ll study differential equations, mathematical proofs, probability, and more. Our creative curriculum blends traditional coursework with electives to tailor and expand your education in the areas of your interest. Two preparation tracks, actuarial science, and statistics can create a path leading directly to industry. As a UTeach participant, you’ll explore teaching first-hand, learn valuable teaching skills, and develop a deeper understanding of math and science. Columbus State faculty members and educational mentors guide you through every step of the program. Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science in Mathematics features a traditional, rigorous plan of study designed to expose the student to a broad range of mathematics at a level sufficient for graduate studies in math or statistics.

Applied Mathematics Concentration

The Applied Math Concentration prepares you for a career in industry. The student in Applied Math may select from two preparation tracks - actuarial science and statistics.

Secondary Education Concentration

The BS in Mathematics - Secondary Education Track provides a sound foundation in mathematics, as well as course work necessary for teaching certification at the secondary level. As a part of UTeach Columbus, this program stresses early field experiences, inquiry- based lessons, and highly engaged instruction. Education coursework focuses directly on math and science classroom settings.
